On that fateful day in June, Lorincz yet again had an altercation with her young neighbors. This time, it escalated to the point where Owens, a concerned mother, approached Lorincz's door to defend her son. In a split-second decision, Lorincz shot Owens through the locked door, taking her life.
And this is the part most people miss: Lorincz's actions were not without consequence. She attempted to justify her actions under Florida's controversial stand-your-ground law, claiming self-defense. However, the law, which has been a subject of intense debate, did not shield her from justice.
After a thorough investigation, Lorincz was arrested and charged with a litany of offenses, including manslaughter with a firearm. The case, captured almost entirely on police body cameras and surveillance footage, was a damning indictment of her actions.
In August 2024, Lorincz was found guilty of manslaughter by an all-white jury, and sentenced to 25 years in prison. She is currently serving her time at Homestead Correctional Institution in South Florida, a stark reminder of the consequences of her actions.

The director of the documentary, Geeta Gandbhir, believes Lorincz is aware of the film but has chosen not to engage with her. "Her voice is present throughout the documentary," Gandbhir said.
